LOVELL , William Merritt “Bill”
It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of William Lovell at the University Hospital of Bern, Switzerland, on the evening of July 13, 2022, surrounded by members of his family. Although Bill lived in Switzerland for the past 50 years, he retained his fondness for the town of Fergus where he grew up and where he and his wife and children returned every summer while he was the owner and director of the John F. Kennedy International School of Saanen, Switzerland. After retiring in 2011, Bill and Sandy purchased a lovely condo in the Briarlea building, and, until Covid times, were able to spend 5 months each year in Fergus. Bill was a graduate of Upper Canada College and the University of Guelph, where he met his wife Sandy to whom he was married for 54 years. He was the proud father of daughter Alison, married to Ryan McIntosh, and son Bryce, married to Victoria. He adored his five grandchildren, Jack, Sam and Sloan McIntosh and Ava and Sadie Lovell. Bill also leaves behind his sister Cathy, of Switzerland, and his brother, John and sister in law Mary Jo of Elora. Predeceased by parents Otto and Connie Lovell of Fergus, and sister Dianne. He loved life and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
