Bursaries – Mapleton Township recently awarded $250 bursaries to three local youth involved in elite-level athletics. Kathryn Giles, left, and Melanie Giles, right, were on hand to receive the awards in person from Mayor Gregg Davidson at the March 8 council meeting. The Drayton residents were members of a national silver medal-winning synchronized skating team. Tyler Franklin, from Moorefield, was a member of a softball team which won the U19 Eastern Men’s Canadian Softball Championships in 2021.
