Local Highland dancers compete in several regional competitions

Competitive Lassies – Dancers from the Blue Bonnet Lassies School of Highland Dance attended several competitions through October and November. On Oct. 29, dancers attended the B.A.T.D. Fall Festival. In the Beginner 9 years Maribelle McBroom placed fifth in Sword, and sixth in Fling and Flora. In the Beginner 10 and under 12 years Brooke Bailey placed fifth in Fling and Flora, and sixth in Sword. In the Double Sword, the team of McBroom and Bailey placed eighth. In the Intermediate category Ainsley Stewart placed sixth in Flora.

On Nov, 6, dancers attended the Halton WOHDA Competition. In the Beginner 9 years Maribelle McBroom placed fourth in Half Hullichan. In the Beginner 10 and under 12 years, Brooke Bailey placed second in Half Hullichan, earning herself her first stamp. Brooke also received a fifth in Trophy Fling. On Nov. 12 McBroom attended the HDAO Fall Nationals Competition. She placed third in Seann Truibhas, fourth in Sword, and sixth in Flora.

McBroom also attended the W&DHDA 5th Annual Celtic Christmas on Nov. 27. She placed third in Fling and Lilt, and a fourth in Sword and Flora, earning herself her first two stamps.
