In what is intended to be the start of a new tradition in Centre Wellington, Mayor Kelly Linton spoke to council at length about the activities at Wellington County council.
As mayor, Linton also serves as a county councillor representing Centre Wellington.
At the Dec. 15 Centre Wellington council meeting, Linton provided councillors with a verbal update about what happened at the previous week’s inaugural county session in Guelph.
“Typically, I plan to provide a written report beginning in January,” said Linton, noting Minto Mayor George Bridge was elected as county warden.
Linton then provided a lengthy report on which councillors were chosen for the various committees of council.
Linton will be involved in the economic development committee, the roads committee and the accessibility advisory committee.
“We had the inaugural meeting last Friday … a big formal do with a reception … but they didn’t have the bagpipes like we had here (at the Centre Wellington inaugural meeting). I thought ours was really nice.”
He added the committee work will begin in January.
“I’ll keep you up to date on every thing that goes on at the committee level,” said Linton.
