Legal Clinic launches ODSP StartSmart

WELLINGTON COUNTY – The Legal Clinic of Guelph and Wellington County is a community legal clinic funded by Legal Aid Ontario.

The clinic provides free legal services to low income residents of Guelph and Wellington County.

One of the core practice areas involves assisting individuals with the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) appeal process.

Typically, the clinic is contacted only after an application has been denied.

This results in health care providers spending more time and resources providing additional medical evidence to support appeals and causes delays in accessing financial and medical supports.

To reduce delays for those in need, the clinic is  launching the ODSP StartSmart program to support applicants before submitting an ODSP application.

The program offers:

– a free, expert review of an application before submission;

– clear explanation of the legal and medical requirements; and

– easy to understand, practical feedback to help an applicant’s success.
