MINTO – A 62-year-old drain in Harriston is set to be assessed by Streamline Engineering.

The owners of 9577 Ayton Rd. have requested improvements to and up-sizing of the drain to alleviate flooding they say continually impacts a shop and yard on their property.

Its a tile system drain that was originally constructed in 1964, and town staff say it’s likely undersized compared to today’s standards.

The engineers will evaluate the drain’s capacity, condition and alignment and provide recommendations that include designs, cost estimates, landowners’ assessments and time lines.

All affected property owners and stakeholders will be notified of the process and given an opportunity to include other improvements as deemed necessary, states a public works report presented to the town  on April 7.
