KALAPACA, Lianne

Lianne Kalapaca died peacefully on January 26, 2026, at Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville, Ontario, with her mother by her side, after a short illness. She was 59. She was the daughter of Patricia and Mike; sister to Virginia, Alexa, and Aaron; and sister-in-law to Jim Morrison and Candace Skinner. She was a beloved aunt to Brooklyn, Ashlyn, and Duncan, and an adoptive aunt to many others. A lifelong athlete and dedicated volunteer, Lianne was an active participant in various sports, and served her community as a figure skating judge, softball umpire, hockey trainer, and basketball referee. She also held civic leadership roles in Grand Valley, including service on the library, hospital, and fire boards. Lianne graduated from the University of Guelph and earned her teaching degree from the University of Western Sydney (Australia). Her career in international education took her to China, Vietnam, Syria, Mongolia, the Philippines, Madagascar, and the Congo. She served as a classroom teacher, International Baccalaureate PYP Coordinator, and most recently Primary School Vice Principal at the International School Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Known for her integrity, sharp wit, and unwavering commitment to students and community, Lianne leaves behind a legacy felt around the world. A celebration of Lianne’s life will be held on Sunday, February 15, from 11:00am to 2:00pm at In Memoriam Funeral Services Inc. (28 Main St N, Grand Valley). Friends, family, colleagues, and all who knew Lianne are warmly invited to attend, share memories, and gather in remembrance.
