INGLIS, Arlene Marie (née Brown)
November 6, 1928 - April 23, 2026
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great‑grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on April 23rd at the age of 97. Born on November 6, 1928, in Holstein, Arlene trained as a nurse in Kitchener, where she met her husband Sam on a blind date at a nurses’ dance. She graduated at the top of her class in the inaugural cohort of Nurse Practitioners in Ontario and remained close with her nursing friends for more than 60 years. Arlene was a respected figure at the Hespeler Clinic; her wisdom and compassion will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Arlene was an active member of the Pauline Brown Group at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Hespeler. She and Sam made their home on Adam Street for more than 50 years before moving to Ariss to live with Laurie and Bill. Arlene and Sam shared 74 years of marriage and were proud and loving parents, grandparents, and great‑grandparents to Laurie and Brian, their partners Bill and Karen, grandchildren Kelly, Sean, Leanne & Shannon, and Scott and Rebecca, and their three great‑grandchildren Arthur, Elliott, and Reid. She also touched the lives of many extended family members and dear friends. Arlene is survived by her younger sister Marilyn and was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Eileen, her sister Yvonne, and brothers Aubrey and Floyd. As was her wish, a Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 20th, from 1:00pm-4:00pm at Windy Knoll Farm in Ariss. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Arlene’s memory to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Hespeler. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Julianna, Sham, Adrianna, and Tammy for their support and compassion. Arlene’s love, strength, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She died as she lived—softly and gently. Arrangements entrusted to Lounsbury Funeral Home.
