Important opportunity

RE: Destroying their future (Feb.  21).

I empathize with Doug Prest and his frustration with climate deniers, but I don’t agree that the Wellington Advertiser shouldn’t publish their letters.

There are a number of people out there who are on the fence, or who are sceptical about climate change. I consider letters like those written by Mr. Brunsveld as an opportunity to correct misinformation.

It’s gratifying to see there are a lot of us willing to put the time and energy into writing about the urgency of dealing with climate change. It’s unlikely that we will change Mr. Brunsveld’s mind, but we may convince others to be concerned and to do what they can to combat climate change.

I appreciate that the Advertiser provides a forum in which these conversations can take place.
