Clifford post master Ann Lange welcomed a crowd of stamp enthusiasts to the Clifford Post Office this fall for the official unveiling of the Hockey Night Heroes six Great Canadian Forwards postage stamp collection and the official cancellation stamp of Clifford 2017 Homecoming.

Local area superintendent Terri Weber noted the stamp will only be imprinting the mail for a year.

Assistant Julie Fischer and clerk Tonya Merchant were on hand to help with the sales and the celebration.

Jim Measures, an avid local stamp collector discussed with Lange the probability of creating a cancellation stamp in honour of the homecoming and Canada’s 150th birthday.

They designed this cancellation stamp that will leave its mark on every letter leaving the Clifford Post Office.

They also designed another cancellation stamp to be used after 2017 featuring the covered bridge at the Old Rotary Park. The Clifford 2017 souvenir committee have also created with Canada Post a special postage stamp featuring the homecoming logo. The stamps were purchased in sheets of 50 at $1.10 plus tax per stamp. These special stamps are not available through the post office.

They can only be purchased through the souvenir shop by calling W.C. Smith Wholesale at 519-327-8091. The team have also created envelopes imprinted with the grist mill. These are also for sale at the  souvenir shop.

On the first day Lange began stamping the envelopes that people brought to mail.  Some used their grist mill envelopes and homecoming postage stamps and completed the look with the imprint from the cancellation stamp.
