‘Home sweet home’?
Dear Editor:
What a way to kill turtles and baby birds! Right now is prime egg laying time for nature. Spring time.
Beatty Line curbs are unsurmountable for turtles. They can’t climb up and over if they are on the road. Why did you not think of the turtles when you built that subdivision? Why not protect nature?
It’s probably an easy fix. Come on, Centre Wellington. Do better. How about fixing this so no more turtles are killed just a few feet from the lake that they live in.
And another one: apparently the people mowing the grass along the Elora Cataract Trail in Fergus thought that Bird Houses were grass and mowed them down along with the baby birds that were inside.
Come on GRCA, do better. How about putting up new bird houses? And maybe the workers need glasses? Home sweet home. Not.
Lucy Dyment,
Fergus
*Editor’s note: GRCA officials, who have apologized for the incident, stated just one birdhouse was destroyed and there is no evidence it was occupied at the time.
