HESSELINK, Maryke “Mary” nee Steenhuis
Of Drayton passed away peacefully at Palmerston Hospital on September 3rd in her 87th year. Beloved wife and best friend of Bert for 64 years. Loving and cherished mother, grandmother of Rose and Allan Clemens; Kim and Rob Hobelman their children Alisa Hesselink and Blaine Hesselink (Megan); great grandmother of Jaiden, Erik, Aubrey; Jim (2023) and Beth Hesselink their children Jaimi, Jessie, Ben and Jocelyn; Gerald and Alida Hesselink their children Cassandra (Gaston Tavecchio), Madisonne (Ben Ruppert) and Jadenne great grandmother of Marlowe. Dear sister-in-law of Trudy Koobs. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by her brother Rienes Steenhuis and her brothers and sisters-in-laws Jerry Koobs, John and Doortje Hesselink, Bill and Debbie Hesselink and Sieny and Jerry Klaassen. The family received friends at the Drayton Reformed Church, 74 Wellington Street North, Drayton on Monday, September 7th,, 2026 from 6:00 – 8:00pm. A private family interment took place in Drayton Cemetery prior to the Celebration of Life. A Celebration of Maryke’s life was conducted by Pastor Peter Burrill in the Drayton Reformed Church on Tuesday, September 8th , 2026 at 2:00pm. As expressions of sympathy donations to Palmerston District Hospital would be appreciated by the family. A loving wife, mother and grandmother are one of the most beautiful gifts THE WORLD has to give.
