Harriston Skating Club to host 67th year-end carnival
HARRISTON – The Harriston Skating Club is set to host its 67th year-end carnival event this weekend.
“The Big Ticket” event will take place at the Palmerston Arena on March 29 at 2pm.
“We have 65 skaters from our Canskate, Novice and Starskate programs who have been working hard ... to prepare a variety group, trio, pair and solo routines,” club past president Emily Lubbers said.
Three Kitchener-Waterloo Skating Club synchro teams will also be performing a routine as special guests.
“Spectators will recognize these big ticket numbers, which are a variety of current and past popular songs, movies and other marquee events such as the Olympics and NHL,” Lubbers said.
The year-end carnival is the culmination of the club’s skating season, which runs from October to March.
“The carnival is an opportunity for skaters to demonstrate their hard work and progress from the season,” Lubbers said.
“This is a showcase of our skaters’ best work and accomplishments.”
Tickets are available from any club member or at the door on event day.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children ages six to 12 and free for children five and under.
Although the club skates out of the Harriston Arena, the carnival is held in Palmerston due to additional dressing room space and seating in the stands. Lubbers expects 500 to 600 spectators on event day.
