Guelph student receives $5,000 national Hackergal scholarship
FERGUS – A Guelph high school student is one of two recipients of a national future tech leaders scholarship.
Centennial Collegiate Vocational Institute student Shealteile Reignstein Balmoris is the recipient of the $5,000 Hackergal RBC Future Tech Leaders Scholarship.
Reignstein Balmoris received a UG Ovation Award from the Upper Grand District School Board CEO Peter Sovran during a board meeting on June 23, in recognition of winning the scholarship.
“She was selected based on her passion for technology, her commitment to diversity and inclusion, and her leadership in creating opportunities for others,” Sovran said.
“Every girl deserves the chance to explore technology with confidence,” Reignstein Balmoris previously told the board. “I hope to keep creating spaces where girls feel supported as they grow into STEM and discover their potential.”
Sovran said “those words reflect exactly the kind of leader this scholarship was created to recognize.”
