GUELPH – Guelph Musicfest announced two encore concerts this fall.
In collaboration with the Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber Music Society (KWCMS), Guelph Musicfest welcomes the Zemlinsky String Quartet from Prague for its first-ever performance in Guelph.
The quartet will appear at the Recital Hall of the Guelph Youth Music Centre on Oct. 25 at 7:30pm.
The performance will be a contrasting program of Beethoven’s Quartet in F minor “Serioso” Op. 95; Janácek’s Quartet No. 1 “Kreutzer Sonata”; and Dvorák’s famous “American” Quartet, Op. 96 in F major.
The Guelph Musicfest Encore series continues on Nov. 7 at 7:30pm with the return of violinist Sadie Fields (Brussels, Belgium), who joins pianist and Musicfest director Ken Gee in East to West – A Musical Journey: Music from Japan to Canada.
The program includes Brahms – Sonata in G major; Bartók – Romanian Folk Dances; Takemitsu – Distance de Fée; Weinberg – Two Songs without Words (1947); Enman* – Imagined Shapes; and Raminsh* – Aria (*works by Canadian composers).
