GUELPH – Giving Tuesday, a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to celebrate generosity by giving, falls on Nov. 28 this year.

The Guelph Black Heritage Society (GBHS) will mark the day by launching the Heritage Hall Heart & Soul campaign.

The campaign seeks community support to create and develop programs, activities and resources to enhance visual and tactile experiences for all Heritage Hall visitors.

Heritage Hall is a historic stone church built in 1880 by formerly enslaved Black individuals and their descendants, who reached Canada via the famed Underground Railroad.

It’s  the only Black-focused and Black-owned cultural centre in Guelph and Wellington County.

The Heart & Soul campaign will revitalize the Guelph Black Heritage Society resources and showcase a barrier-free cultural community gathering place.

“GBHS is a source of inspiration and pride in our community,” said president and treasurer Denise Francis.

“Your Giving Tuesday donation will assist us to preserve Heritage Hall as a cultural heritage structure.”
