Groves receiving $1.9 million from province
FERGUS – Groves Memorial Community Hospital will receive an additional $1.9 million in operational funding from the provincial government for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.
That’s a four-per-cent increase for the hospital.
The funding is part of a total $1.1 billion investment in the hospital sector province wide, according to a news release from Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Joseph Racinsky.
“Our government is making historic investments to protect Ontario’s healthcare system, ensuring that more people in Wellington-Halton Hills can connect to the care they need, where and when they need it,” stated minister of health Sylvia Jones in the release.
“This investment will allow Groves Memorial Community Hospital to continue delivering the highest standard of care while reducing wait lists and wait times for patients and families, for generations to come.”
The investment represents another year of increased operating funding for local hospitals, helping them respond to growing demand, support frontline health-care workers, and ensure residents can continue accessing care closer to home, officials say.
“Our government continues to make record investments in healthcare across Ontario and right here in Wellington-Halton Hills. I want to thank minister Sylvia Jones for her leadership in making sure that these additional dollars go to our incredible local hospitals,” said Racinsky.
Over the next 10 years, Ontario is set to spend about $64 billion in major health infrastructure.
This is part of the government’s plan to get shovels in the ground on more than 50 major hospital projects across the province, which will deliver approximately 3,000 new hospital beds to enhance access to quality care and build a connected, people-first health-care system, officials say.
