GREEN, Nicholas Dudley

Just a few days before his 84th birthday, at home at Faraway Farm, the world bid farewell to the much beloved Nick Green. He was surrounded by family, and made his way on his own terms, at a time of his choosing. The moment of his departure was marked by bravery, gratitude, deep love and admiration. Nick was born Nicholas Dudley Green in Mount Kisco, New York to Edson Killam Green and Carolyn Roberts Green. He was raised in the country outside Dalton, Pennsylvania. Nick’s career took him to far off places, and he eventually moved to Caledon, where he met his wife, Jill. Nick and Jill began their life together in Terra Cotta, then Cedar Valley in the late 70s, and moved to Faraway Farm on the First Line of Erin, in the Winter of ‘89 where they remained and raised their family. Nick is survived by his wife Jill, his three children, Christopher, Trish, and Andrew; four grandchildren, Meadow, Ivry, Evelyn and Zoe; his beloved dogs; his older brother and sister, Loring Green (Susan) and Lyn Wilbur. And many friends. Nick will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, warmth, sense of humour and easy way. He loved dogs over horses, tractors over treadmills, and ponds over pools. He loved road trips with his family, adventures with Jill, a good dinner out, a well told story, playful banter, and Mac’s cabin. Most of all, he loved and took care of his family. For those who wish to do so, donations can be made in memory of Nick to The Guelph Outdoor School, a local non-profit dedicated to getting kids outside. The family would like to thank all the people that participated in Nick’s care over the last few years: his family doctor Dr. Rabia Khan, Dr. Martin Kolb of the Firestone Clinic for Respiratory Health, his oncologist Dr. Anupam Batra at the Wellington Waterloo Regional Cancer Centre, Dr. Chris Lund, Dr. Will Ruddock and his attending nurse Bonita, Bayshore Home Health, CarePartners Home Health (Bede Ejere PSW) and our OT Shelley Gamble. They were all wonderful. Nick reminded us often that “life is walking a fine line, and a delicate balancing act”. Indeed it is.
