On Oct. 11 council unanimously approved (councillor Sherry Burke was absent) Community Improvement Program (CIP) grants to the following businesses:
• up to $2,500 to Shaveta Kang Physiotherapy Professional Corp in Mount Forest to help pay for a new facade and signage;
• $1,500 to Arthur Greenhouses to cover zoning and permit fees associated with improvements being made; and
• up to $1,000 to I’m So Bad in Mount Forest to help pay for restoration of the wooden facade located at the storefront.
The recent approvals leave $4,956 remaining in the township’s CIP fund.
Council also approved Community Development Fund dollars to:
- waive fees for arena and field rental fees ($1,806) by Hayden’s Hope Foundation for the Strike Out Cancer Ball Tournament and Dance that occurred in September and October; and
- $200 for two hours of free skating on Nov. 25 to support Arthur Countdown to Christmas celebrations.
That’s in addition to the $49,887 given to 34 organizations in April and May, bringing this year’s total approved funding to $51,894 – $40,000 of which is accounted for in the operating budget, and $11,894 of which is covered by COVID-19 recovery dollars.
