FERGUS - The Grand Quilt Guild donated 55 quilts to the Adopt-a-Family program at the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington.

Each Christmas, the foundation packages gifts for needy families in Wellington County and Guelph.

This year 2,200 families have been helped already.

However the Children’s Foundation expects to receive an additional 20 to 30 emergency referrals from social workers before Christmas.

Bobbi Turner and Emilie Mossman from the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington attended the Dec. 11 meeting of the Grand Quilt Guild. Turner and Mossman told members about the foundation’s projects, relayed some of their experiences and thanked them for the quilt donation.

The Grand Quilt Guild meets monthly in Fergus.

“It is extremely heartwarming for members of the Grand Quilt Guild to know 55 of their comfy quilts have found their way into Christmas packages for needy families in the county,” guild officials say.
