GRAHAM, Glen

After an outing at Mapleton Farm, Glen Graham passed away suddenly and peacefully in his 75th year, surrounded by caring staff at Wellington Terrace. Glen came to this community from Toronto in 1976 because of his friendship with Sheila and Al Koop and quickly became like a family member to their group of family and friends. He found a home, started a business restoring and repairing furniture, and set up shop in the alley behind Gerry Epoch’s store. Glen loved to host his close friends to roast beef and mashed potato dinners at his apartment on David St. He always passed out candy to trick or treaters on Halloween and remembered Christmas and birthdays for the children of his friends. If Glen could today, he would have kind words of thanks for his many friends on St. Andrews St. with whom he shared the news of the day and enjoyed coffee. In their shops he had a chance to meet local residents and get to know them. When health problems meant giving up his apartment, the transition to receiving care was not an easy one. Carol, Peg, Virginia and many other caregivers at Wellington Terrace negotiated their way to a place of trust and affection with Glen. In his last years he took pride in watching the new hospital rise from the ground, always interested in seeing our community become a better place. Glen will long be remembered fondly by the many friends and adopted family whose lives have been enriched by his generosity and courage. A celebration of Glen’s life will be held at the Wellington Terrace on Thursday, July 4th at 7:00pm.
