Grade 9 students at Wellington Heights visit YMCA Camp Ki-Wa-Y

WELLINGTON COUNTY – From Sept. 24 to 26 about 110 Grade 9 Wellington Heights Secondary School students attended YMCA’s Camp Ki-Wa-Y near St. Clements to participate in outdoor experiential activities such as high ropes, low ropes, gaga ball, archery, shelter building, a climbing wall, field games, campfires and basketball. The camp was organized by teachers Jen Cork, Shelley Bell, Adam Norton and Adam Teeter, and vice principal Pam Eurig, along with LINK Crew members and other Grade 9 teacher volunteers. “Students enjoyed the opportunity to connect with one another, to make new friendships, and to build school spirit and community,” school officials said. Those unable to attend the three-day camp were able to attend an extended day camp and participate in similar leadership and team building activities at the school.
