GOTTFRIED, Gregory (Greg) Paul
March 18th 1973 - April 29th 2026
Beloved Husband, Dad and Son. In Saint John NB after a very brave and private battle with cancer, with his wife Kelly and daughter Isabelle by his side. Greg was born in Fergus, graduating from Center-Wellington High School. He grew up in Alma, ON, with parents Brian and Kathy and sister Julie. The guy who could never stay still, Greg discovered and excelled at all things mechanical. He may have cringed when we bought European vehicles, but there was always a YouTube video that would help him through fixing them. After transitioning to working from home, Greg began many new experiences. He became a home inspector and completed his certification in construction engineering. Greg also didn’t like getting in the water, but got a cabin cruiser and his Captain’s license. Greg was happy to fish and troll up and down the Rideau and St. Lawrence. He also said he’d never fly..and took a trip to Las Vegas the previous year. An amazing ‘girl dad’, Greg hosted exchange students for events and who lived in his home for the school year. Greg’s heart was so big and he was a safe place to land for so many. Greg’s hope was to retire on the east coast and he made it there. He loved every minute he shared with his church, neighbors and friends in New Brunswick. Greg’s faith and family meant everything to him. An inspiring example of what a Christian father should be, you have shown “your Isa” what love is and praying every day over her has made her the young lady she is today. I’ll hold her hand now and finish teaching her to shift gears 4 thru 6, but not with your patience. Thank you for being my soulmate, bestest friend, my safe place and my desire. It’s not the flowers that I will miss getting every Friday, it’s the hundreds of little notes you wrote with them. We built a beautiful life together, filled with laughter, dancing and endless adventures. Thank you for telling and showing me that our love is eternal. I will feel your beard forever on my face and your heartbeat in my ear. Save me a seat beside you, Greg. I know where you are and I’ll see you there… As usual, I’ll just be a little late. Per Greg’s last wishes, we will be having a celebration of Greg’s life that will take place in June. Details will come later this spring.
