Gospel music on its way to Guelph

GUELPH  – The excitement is building for Joy In The City 7, A Gospel Christmas Celebration.

The Gospel Music event continues to bring together talented artists, musicians and community with a happy and hopeful message of Christmas, officials say.

This year’s event will take place at a new venue in the City of Guelph – Parkview Church. This location offers ample parking.

This year’s line up includes:

– Jill Zadeh – a graduate of Berklee College of Music with a Bachelors Degree in Music Business and Songwriting.  Zadeh has been working professionally as a live touring, and studio recording vocalist for the last 15 years along side artists such as Janet Jackson, Maroon 5, Christina Aguilera, Sting, Paula Cole, Brandy, Lindsay Lohan, Diana Ross, Gladys Knight, as well as Juno and Maple Blues award-winning pianist, organist/composer and many more;

– Londa Larmond will be returning this year following her stand-out performance last year.  She is a Covenant Award winner and a Juno and Gospel Music Awards nominee.  Londa started her Gospel Music back in 1999 and has been consistently releasing new music over the years. She was a member of the Juno Award-winning Gospel group Sharon Riley & Faith Chorale. Riley, has also been a featured artist of previous Joy In The City events;

– Jim Duffield is a saxophonist virtuoso. Duffield is skilled with the saxophone, clarinet, flute and electronic wind instrument.  He is a member of the band Electric Vinyl Orchestra and was the owner of the former Royal City Studios, which served as a music hub for singers and musicians, especially during the pandemic years.  He is also the founder of Wholly AMusED, a Not-for-Profit corporation that aspires to become Canada’s leading barrier-free music organization;

– Kerroy Williams is an award-winning Gospel Music songwriter, vocalist and actor.  He’s a proud member of Toronto Mass Choir, Canada’s longest standing Gospel Music choir.  As an actor, Kerroy was a member of the choir for the critically acclaimed movie The Clark Sisters: First Ladies of Gospel; and 

– other returning artists include Keturah Morris (Hamilton), Carrie Guse (Waterloo), Okiki -Spoken Word (Kitchener) and Guelph’s very own Michael Austin Harris and Tracy Lee.

Joy In The City 7, A Gospel Christmas Celebration will be performed Dec. 13 at the  Parkview Church, 80 Speedvale Ave. Doors  open at 6:30pm with the show starting at 7pm.

Advance tickets are $35 for adults and $20 for students (valid ID required for university and college) and children/youth.
