Gordon Lightfoot’s band celebrates his legacy at River Run Centre

GUELPH – The original Gordon Lightfoot touring band comes to River Run Centre’s Main Stage on Feb. 29 at 8pm. 

The Lightfoot Band delivers a must-see show for fans of the iconic Canadian folksinger, featuring his beloved hits as well as some deep cuts to deliver the ultimate Gordon Lightfoot experience, states a press release announcing the show.

The original lineup – Rick Haynes on bass, Barry Keane on drums, Mike Heffernan on keyboards, and Carter Lancaster on lead guitar – are joined by their newest member, lead singer and rhythm guitarist Andy Mauck. 

The band is known for its decades of collaboration with Gordon Lightfoot and the performance will showcase hits from his incredible catalogue. 

Lightfoot classics

Fans can expect to hear renditions of classics including “Sundown,” “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald,” “If You Could Read My Mind,” “Beautiful,” and “Carefree Highway.”

“We felt that it was our duty to continue to perform Gordon’s great songs, the way he wanted them performed,” said Keane, the band’s drummer for 47 years.

The Canadian icon passed away at 84 years old on May 1, 2023.
