GOLIGHTLY, Doreen

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Doreen Golightly (nee Atkinson), who left this world gently on December 4, 2025, surrounded by her family. She is now home and reunited with her late husband, Bill Golightly, parents Art and Violet Atkinson, sisters Margaret (Don Hutchinson) and Jean Thompson. Doreen will be forever remembered by her children Warren (Linda) Golightly, Shirley Kurtz (Gary d. 2019), grandchildren Jessica (Matthew), Bryce (Ashley), Kyle (Mindy), Marisa (Corey) and 9 great grandchildren, Austin, Karson, Olivia, Reid, Henry, Charlie, Archer, Ali, Hailey as well as her brother-in-law Barry Thompson. She will be sadly missed by her closest friends Marion Maine, Isabel Hotson, Zoran and Nevenka Grujic and Keith Roszell, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours and all of those who were blessed to know her. A devoted woman of faith at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, she lived her life with quiet strength, grace, and unwavering kindness. Her days were shaped by compassion and service whether offering a prayer, sharing a gentle word, or lending a helping hand. She touched countless lives with her generosity and belief in the goodness of others. She lived her life in the Fergus/Elora area where she leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and love. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit lives on in the memories we cherish and in the lessons she taught simply by the way she lived. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Doreen to the Aboyne Rural Hospice. A private funeral will be held at a later date.
