GAMBLE, John Allan

Two months after the passing of his loving wife Sheila (née Cosby) on January 4, John Allan “Duke” Gamble died suddenly at his home in Elora. Together they enjoyed 47 years of marriage, many of them in retirement, with winters in the sunny south and the summers in their lovely garden on the river. Duke was an avid golfer and enjoyed walking the links with his golfing buddies throughout retirement. A keen outdoorsman, he enjoyed paddling, fishing and back-country canoe trips. Pre-deceased by his parents Robert Francis and Lillian Irene (Moffatt) and step-son John Day (2015), Duke leaves his step-daughter Ruth Day, grandchildren Catherine, Graham, Elizabeth, Katelyn and Anna, brothers Peter (Ann) and Don, nieces and nephews Marcus, Robert, Julia, Jeff, Alex, Juliet and Lauren, extended family, friends and their dog Cricket. Cremation will follow and a celebration for both Sheila and Duke will be arranged at a later date.

“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”  A.A. Milne

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army and are appreciated by the family.
