GUELPH – The Guelph Food Bank is inviting the community for a day of shopping, savings and support at its special fundraising event.
It takes place on Aug. 23 from 9am to 4pm and all proceeds will go directly toward the food bank’s Food Purchasing Program, which helps ensure shelves are stocked with essential, nutritious food items for local families in need.
The day will include:
– 10-Tent Pop-Up Sale: open 9am to 4pm;
– The Store by GFB Specials: open 9am to 6pm; and
– Auction Sets Sale.
“This event is a great way for the community to come together, shop for a cause and directly help us purchase food items we urgently need,” said food bank managing director Carolyn McLeod-McCarthy.
“Because we have volume purchasing programs in place, every dollar spent goes twice as far to help us put healthy, nourishing food on the tables of families across Guelph.”
The Guelph Food Bank relies heavily on community support to sustain its operations, particularly in the face of the rapidly growing demand, which is more than double the increase to-date over the entire year in 2024.
The Food Purchasing Program bridges the gap between what is donated and the high-demand items not regularly received, such as proteins, fresh produce, and specialty dietary items.
The Guelph Food Bank is located at 10 Crimea St.
