FLORADALE 7 LISTOWEL 1
Despite keeping the puck in the Listowel end most of the play, Floradale’s first goal didn’t come until late in the first. Ryan Martin teed up Josh Brohman at the point, who blasted a slap shot under the crossbar for the Floradale goal.
Listowel came back to even the score before the period ended. Travis Kuepfer stepped into a loose puck and skated down the ice with a breakaway and snapped a high shot into the top corner for the goal.
Floradale regained the lead midway through the second with a lucky bounce. Nick Martin took a loose puck deep in the right corner and backhanded a shot towards the net. The puck bounced through some legs and rolled into the near-side corner.
Floradale added another pair of goals shortly after. Brendan Jefferson tipped the puck over the shoulder of the goaltender and Brandon Martin sent a wrist shot past his glove for the other goal. Assists were earned by Braeden Gingrich, Brandon Martin and Ryan Martin.
Tim Martin added two more goals for Floradale in the third period. Two slap shots through the crowd found the back of the net for the pair of goals. Assists went to Brandon Martin and Josh Brohman.
A final goal in the dying seconds ended the game. Goaltender Derek Wideman started the play with a pass to Brandon Martin, who set up Nick Martin with an open corner for the tip-in.
DRAYTON 6
BETHEL 1
In this hard-played game, it was Drayton that managed the only goal in the first period. Rob DeWeerd sent Cam Mohle away with the puck. Mohle blasted a shot on net and Eric Deckers followed the play to bury the rebound.
Drayton padded its lead with two more goals in the second. Jason Mohle took a pass from behind the net and buried the puck behind the netminder. Less than a minute later, Cam Mohle finished a scramble at the net, sending the puck over a sprawling goaltender. Eric Deckers set up both plays, accompanied by Brandon Rumph and Jason Mohle.
Drayton added three more goals in the third period. Eric Deckers scored a pair of goals with shots into the top corners. Cam Mohle scored by ringing a shot of the inside of the post. Assists were awarded to Chad Reinders, Jason Mohle, Cam Mohle and Mark Scholten.
Bethel finally answered the goaltending of Kevin Ottens late in the game. Jim Wideman and Sam Altwegg sent Brandon Shoemaker skating down the ice. This time Shoemaker made no mistake and sent the puck to the back of the net.
MISSIONARY 10 COMMUNITY 6
A high scoring first period provided plenty of action around the nets. By the end of the period Missionary had built up a 4-1 lead. Dave Scholten, Rich Colwill, Tom Chambers and Curtis Bults scored for Missionary, assisted by Scholten, Chambers, Colwill, Matt Duff and Matt Burnett.
The lone Community goal came midway through the period with a single-handed rush by Joe Clemmer, who scored the unassisted goal.
Both teams scored three in the second. Colwill scored twice to complete his hat trick. Bryan Deen supplied the other Missionary goal, assisted by Colwill and Nate Rhame.
Community goals were scored by Ryan Martin, Delmer Frey and Joe Clemmer, assisted by Josh Martin, Tony Martin, Calvin Martin and Ryan Martin.
Missionary added three more goals in the third. Dave Scholten scored an unassisted goal. Colwill and Chambers added the final two. Assists went to Scholten, Chambers and Colwill.
Community added a pair to finish their night. Ryan Martin and Tony Martin were the goal scorers, assisted by Rick Brubacher, Joe Clemmer and Graham Wideman.
