Flaming toilet adds flair

Not many places can lay claim to having flaming toilets as part of their annual Christmas parades - but communities in Minto are the exception to the rule.

On Dec. 2, Minto Mayor David Anderson thanked everyone for participating in the local Christmas parades in Harriston and Clifford, and was looking forward to the upcoming parade in Palmerston that weekend.

As for the previous two parades, Anderson noted the float was decorated on the Friday night and did some magic Saturday morning, and everything looked great.

“Everyone commented on the flaming toilet,” he said.

He added it was more visible in Clifford at night, where there was a little bit of glow from the float. He quipped the town did obtain a burning permit.

He noted that walking the parade route really worked well. “It gave us a chance to get in touch with the crowd. We were handing candy out and it really enhances communication.

“And the fact of a flaming toilet just adds a little more flair to it.”
