It was an extra mark of recognition to long-serving members of the Puslinch Fire Department on Aug. 15.

Mayor Dennis Lever explained that in June, Puslinch fire chief Bob Gordon, CAO Brenda Law and himself attended a long service presentation for firefighters.

The event was hosted by the Ontario Fire Marshall in Kitchener with four local firefighters eligible for recognition.

“Unfortunately only two of them could make it (to the Kitchener event).”

Firefighters John Uptegrove and Shawn Whaling received their medals that evening.

“But we have two other firefighters Mike McCrone and Scott Priest and we wanted to make a presentation in front of the gallery tonight.”

All have served the Puslinch Fire Department for at least 25 years. The program recognizes firefighters with 25, 30, 35 and 40 years of service.

“Thank you again on behalf of the township,” said Lever.
