Film crews were at Elora Quarry and gorge recently

Centre Wellington continues to make its mark in film and TV, with two local features in recent weeks.

Prior to Centre Wellington council on Oct. 22, members of council mentioned two upcoming film projects in the local community.

One involved scenes of the new television series Reign and work involving local company One Axe Pursuits.

During the regular session of council, it was noted that there may be intermittent traffic stops on Wellington Road 18.

At that time, the One Axe Pursuits project was also mentioned.

Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj also spoke briefly on the local filming.

“I don’t know if we have any celebrities in town, but we have lots of action,” she said.

The mayor then mentioned she was involved in a film being done that morning by Habitat for Humanity.

“The film was about the benefits of Habitat for Humanity in our community.”

Elora Fergus Tourism coordinator Deb Daziel later confirmed scenes for the new series Reign were being filmed in the quarry, as well as some trail scenes this week – depending on the weather.

In addition, Dalziel said  National Geographic is filming a documentary featuring One Axe Pursuits.
