FERGUSON, Marshall “Mike”

Marshall “Mike” Ferguson passed away peacefully at the age of 87 with his wife Edna at his side. He is survived by his daughter Tracey (Jim) Vlasveld, granddaughter Emily Vlasveld and his sisters Jessie Tuck, Joyce Barham, and Barb (John) Duffin. He was predeceased by his parents Irwin and Janet Ferguson, son Stacey, first wife Kathaleen and several siblings. Mike had fond memories of growing up on the family farm in the Dromore area, where his sense of adventure led to many escapades and lively stories over the years. He had a deep love of animals, especially his horses and Dobermans, for which many championships were won. As a loyal Toronto Maple Leafs fan, he never missed the chance to cheer on his favourite team and always believed this might be their year. Mike will be remembered for always having a smile on his face and for his willingness to lend a hand to family, friends and neighbours. Later in life, he shared a loving partnership with Edna (Couling) whom he married April 11, 2008. Through this marriage he became a cherished part of her family, including Cheryl and Rob Bacon (Stephanie, Ashley and Jason), Scott and Sue Couling (William and Harry), and Andrea and Jim Burchat (Kylie and Cassidy). The family extends a sincere thank you to Dr. John Stickney and the dedicated teams at Groves Memorial Hospital, Guelph General Hospital and the wonderful nurses and palliative care team at WRHN Midtown (Grand River Hospital) for their care and compassion. Cremation will take place at this time, and interment will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honour Mike’s memory are encouraged to consider a donation to their local Humane Society. Arrangements entrusted to Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home (280 St. David St. S, Fergus, 519-843-3100). Visit www.grahamgiddyfh.com for Mike’s online memorial.
