Fergus youth mini-marathon fundraiser for Centre Wellington Food Bank a success
Mini-marathon a great success – These Fergus boys decided that food is one of the most essential things that people need during the COVID-19 pandemic and they don’t want anyone to go without. They came up with the idea of a fundraiser and incorporated their love of bike riding into it. They spent a month gathering donations for the Centre Wellington Food Bank and then on Aug. 29 rode their bikes along the Elora-Cataract Trail to the Shand Dam and back, twice. Here, on Sept. 2, they dropped off about 300 pounds of food and $3,000 in cash donations. Buoyed by their success, the boys hope to make this an annual event and offered a big thank you to those in the community that supported them.
