Fergus girl wins Ford Drills and Skills competition with Orangeville team

TORONTO  – Fergus resident Avery Holmes is part of the Orangeville Tigers U13B Latour rep hockey team that won the grand prize in the Ford Drills and Skills competition in recognition of its volunteer efforts this season.

The team was one of eight teams across Ontario to win the grand prize: a trip to the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on March 16.

The day included:

  • opening addresses by Maple Leafs great Darryl Sittler and the Leafs' head strength and conditioning coach Louis Rojas;
  • on-ice training session Maple Leafs staff;
  • “Eat Like Pro” meal and nutritional advice from the Leafs' head chef and nutritionist, ;
  • tour of the building (including the Leafs and Raptors dressing rooms); and
  • complimentary Maple Leafs jersey for each player.
