Fergus and District Horicultual Society hosting annual plant sale
FERGUS – The Fergus and District Horticultural Society is set to host its annual plant sale May 23 from 8 to 11am next to the community gardens at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex.
“The plants are from our members and local gardens,” said sale organizer Kathy Bouma. “You know you’ll get a good, healthy plant because they’re locally grown, so you know that they’re going to survive.”
This year marks the sale’s 25th year, with interuptions during the pandemic.
This year’s sale will include a variety of plants, including:
– black-eyed susans;
– seedums;
– hostas;
– herbs;
– rhubarb;
– bleeding hearts; and
– mayapple.
Volunteers will be on site helping guests transfer purchases to vehicles.
There will also be some master gardeners on site to answer questions and provide a variety of gardening tips and tricks.
This is the Horticultural society’s only fundraising event.
All proceeds raised go toward community gardens, speaker programs and flower shows.
This is a cash-only event running rain or shine.
