PALMERSTON – Minto Farmers’ Market in partnership with the Palmerston Railway Heritage Museum is slated to host a Family Day event to promote local shopping and community engagement.
The Aug. 16 event will be located at 164 William St. and includes live music from Drayton-based Don’t Know Five band, family-friendly activities, little train rides and more.
It kicks off with a breakfast hosted by the Palmerston and Maitland Traditional Scouting Association at 9am.
“People can come down, bring their families and grab some breakfast before shopping all our local vendors,” said town marketing and community development coordinator Erin Raftis.
The three-hour event also includes a Teddy Bear Picnic hosted by the museum.
“Kids are encouraged to bring their own teddy bear,” she said.
Guests can participate in a scavenger hunt through the museum and market, complete colouring pages and get a souvenir from an on-site photo booth.
Officials ask those interested in the picnic to pre-register at eventbrite.ca.
Family Day and the picnic are free to attend with proceeds made from the breakfast going to the scouting association.
“These events are not only important because they bring the community together, but they bring them together and help celebrate and support local,” Raftis said.
