Area businesses continue to benefit from a façade improvement grant program as Wellington North council approved two more subsidies at its meeting on Sept. 29.

Dancing Frogs Antiques, located at 7502 Sideroad 7 in Kenilworth, will receive $1,195 and the BDO Canada LLP building on Main Street in Mount Forest will be given $2,500.

The BDO Canada building was also approved for $1,500 under the Application Fees and  Development Charges Program to be paid upon completion of the improvements.

Business economic manager Dale Small said he hopes to see the program continue to be a success in the community throughout its gestation.

“There have been 17 applications that in total have generated improvements of over $150,000. It has seen great success over the last two years and really taken off.

“It’s a 10-year program so hopefully it will continue to generate interest moving forward,” he said.

The façade improvement program provides an interest-free loan to be paid back over five years and is part of the township’s plan to improve the appearance of businesses in core areas.
