Erin-Halton townline road update
It looks like the Erin-Halton Townline reconstruction will continue - as originally proposed.
On Oct. 4, roads superintendent Larry Van Wyck reported to council of his receipt of an email from the Town of Halton Hills endorsing the proposed reconstruction of the Erin-Halton Townline and a request Erin provide trees to property owners affected by the cutting.
Van Wyck said he intended to contact Wellington County;’s Green Legacy program to determine what is available.
Van Wyck said arrangements were made with the landowners for tree replacements. Originally he had hoped clearing would continue by Oct. 3, “but that didn’t happen.”
The crew doing that work has moved on to another project, but Van Wyck anticipated their return once that project is complete.
In August, some of that work came to a halt and a public open house was held after concerns were raised as trees were felled - without advance warning - in the road allowances in front of their properties.
The project - reconstructing the Townline Road (Sideroad 32) from Wellington County Road 125 to Crewson’s Corners (the Erin-Eramosa Townline) - was originally scheduled to last from Aug. 15 to mid-October.
Construction was slated to be entirely within the 20m (66 feet) right-of-way.
Some of that work included clearing trees from the entire right of way to accommodate grading and ditching as well as improving visibility for access or egress to the road.
