ERIN – The Erin Legion was buzzing with activity on Feb. 26 as town staff, firefighters and residents gathered to celebrate deputy fire chief Rick Scott’s 38 years of service to the community.

Surrounded by friends and family, Scott was overwhelmed by the conversations and congratulations.

“I enjoyed every minute of it,” Scott told the Advertiser of his career.

“I’ve always loved to serve my community.”

Asked what he plans to do in retirement, Scott said: “I do want to travel some more and see the world that I haven’t seen.”

“I was always afraid to leave town, but now I can do it.”

First on his list of destinations is Canada’s east coast, as his partner is from Cape Breton.
