Councillor Deb Callaghan told councillors recently of a successful community oriented policing committee (COPs) meeting.

“It went very well and we had eight people in attendance.”

Callaghan said the OPP liaison for the COPs is Sergeant Ron Smith.

“He’s very enthusiastic and the committee is quite impressed with him, and with his ideas for Erin,” she said.

At the next meeting, Callaghan said Wellington County OPP Inspector Scott Smith is scheduled to attend to provide statistics and outline potential solutions to some of the problems in town.

“The top of the list is mischief,” Callaghan said.

Councillor Barb Tocher asked about comments from members of the local business improvement area.

Callaghan said two BIA members will be part of the committee.

Callaghan added that anyone with questions can contact either herself of Smith.
