Erin CAO still on leave

Council here has extended the contract of interim CAO Derek McCaughan until the end of August.

Council’s decision comes after a closed meeting on Aug. 10, at which “personal matters about an identifiable individual,” were discussed.

Mayor Allan Alls said they extended the contract of McCaughan “because our current CAO is on leave.”

CAO Kathryn Ironmonger has been on leave since the end of May.

McCaughan, formerly a senior manager with Guelph, was hired on June 27 to fill in the empty seat.

After the meeting, Alls said the funds to pay for the interim CAO is “coming out of our budget, no problems there.”

He added, “It’s well looked after.”
