GUELPH/ERAMOSA – The Eramosa 4-H beef club held a third meeting at the Bessey Farm on June 28.

The meeting was opened with the 4-H pledge before judging to evaluate crops and livestock began.

Beef club members were instructed on what to look for when judging a class of market heifers and corn silage. Heifers were evaluated on their health, capacity to carry a calf, legs – all ideal qualities making a good cow.

Corn silage was judged on nutritional quality, smell and consistency.

Each 4-H member presented their reasons for their judging decisions and the meeting was closed with the 4-H motto.
