Equine Guelph offers free youth course on horse behaviour, safety

GUELPH – Youth ages 13 to 17 can discover the fascinating body language of horses with young people from across the world by taking Equine Guelph’s free course: Horse Behaviour and Safety. 

 More than 1,000 Students from across Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Italy and the United Kingdom have participated in the self-paced, online course on TheHorsePortal.ca.  

From January through March the course will be offered for free.

Students will learn to speak horse and raise their awareness of safety around horses. There is approximately two weeks worth of material and activities for kids to access 24/7.

Course Topics include:

– Horse Behaviour – Wild versus Stabled;

– How Horses See and Hear;

– Herd Behaviour – How Horses Interact with Each Other;

– Horse Handling – Basic Safety Around Horses;

– Rider/Helmet Safety;

– Safe Trailering – Basics; 

– Fire Safety; 

– Safety around the Barn and Paddocks; and 

– Returning from an Injury.
