Elora Cooperative Preschool hosts Easter Egg Hunt

It’s time to hop to it and join the Elora Cooperative Preschool for its annual Centre Wellington community Easter egg hunt to be held on April 7.

In partnership with Zehrs Markets in Fergus, which has donated 15,000 Easter eggs, the fundraising event has become a spring tradition for families of young children.

“We’ve planned this event to include all of Centre Wellington, and we hope it will continue to grow every year” said co-chairman of the festivities, Carolyn Sharp. “This fundraiser is being held to ensure that the Elora preschool is there for the future of the children of Centre Wellington.”

This year’s event takes place at a new location, in Bissell Park, along Mill Street in Elora.

Festivities will include activities, like music, chocolate eggs, sweet treats, food, free hot chocolate and spring vendors. The Elora Centre for the Arts is providing free face painting. But the highlight of the day will be a visit from the Easter Bunny himself.

“The first 250 children on site will receive a free tooth brush from our sponsors at Centre Wellington Dental and the Wellington Veterinary Services,” Sharp said.

She explained the children will be cordoned off for safety into age categories, to ensure everyone has a fair opportunity to search for eggs with their peers.

Sharp said the days promises to be fun for all ages. She is overwhelmed by the community support of donations and sponsors from within the community, and beyond, such as Dare Foods, which is contributing sweet treats.

“The Elora Cooperative Preschool is a wonderful place, cherished by the children of Elora, Fergus, Ponsonby, Alma, Elmira, Belwood and beyond. It has been in operation for over 35 years as a non-profit organization that depends greatly on the generosity of the Centre Wellington community,” explained Elora Preschool fundraising committee member Kim Robinson.

Admission is $5 per child, and participating children will be provided with wristbands that can be purchased at the following locations: Big Monkey, Little Monkey in Fergus, Wellington Veterinary Services or Peared in Elora, through the Elora Cooperative Preschool or via co-chair, Carrie Rhys at 519-846-9333. Wristbands will also be available at the event.

The Centre Wellington Community Easter Egg Hunt takes place April 7 in Bissell Park, with festivities beginning at 9am. The hunt starts at 9:30am. For more information visit www.elorapreschool.ca.
