Dublin WI Annual Meeting

The annual meeting of the Dublin Women’s Institute was held on April 16 at the home of Barb Wilson, with Sharon Anderson acting as co-hostess.

Before getting down to business, members enjoyed a sumptuous pot luck supper and social time.

President Jane Baynton opened the meeting with a reading of Bar Stool Economics, the math of which was just too complicated for most of our members to absorb on top of such a good supper.

Secretary-treasurer Jean McLean presented her audited financial report, which was adopted.

The nominating committee submitted its report and officers were installed for the coming year.

A minute of silence was observed to honour three members – Marion Diamond, Irene Moffatt, and Mildred Wilson – who had recently passed away. Between them, they devoted a total of 125 years to the branch and the Women’s Institute.

Members were reminded of the coming district annual meeting on May 22, and also of the bus trip on June 25 to Kemble Cairn Women’s Institute, the oldest  Women’s Institute in Ontario.

Dublin Women’s Institute meets in the Acton-Rockwood area once a month and any women in the community are welcome to join.

McLean (519-856-9598) will provide information regarding coming meetings and activities.
