In Loving Memory BARBARA LYNNE ‘BONNIE’ (Gordon) DOPFER It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the sudden passing of Barbara Lynne Dopfer known to all who loved her simply as Bonnie - at the Palmerston & District Hospital on Monday, September 14, 2026, at the age of 74. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and cherished friend whose strength, creativity, and faithful spirit touched everyone who knew her. Born in St. Thomas, Ontario, on May 30, 1952, Bonnie was raised as a country girl on the family farm in Fingal by her loving parents, the late Hugh and Marian Gordon. She grew into a strong, independent woman who knew her own mind and possessed a remarkable depth of knowledge. Capable and resourceful, there was very little Bonnie couldn’t figure out, teach herself to do, or take pride in completing in her own way. Bonnie was the beloved wife of Jim Dopfer, her husband of 36 years. Together, they built a home and a life grounded in deep partnership, quiet strength, family, and shared memories. She was a deeply loving mother to Karyn Bulyaki, Kelly & Craig Ironside, Jamie & Geoff Hume, and Jessalyn Dopfer. Her heart grew even fuller as a proud grandmother to Braiden, Nick, Ella, Emery, Charlie, Trinity, and Cameron. Nothing brought Bonnie greater happiness than having her family close and supporting her grandchildren in all their sports, activities, and milestones. Bonnie dedicated her entire professional career to CIBC, serving colleagues and clients for many years with a strong work ethic, reliability, and steady dedication. Following her retirement, her creative hands and entrepreneurial spirit took flight; an avid quilter, she turned her passion into a flourishing business painting barn quilts, bringing beauty to the rural landscape and taking great pride in every piece she created. She was also a wonderful cook who loved expressing her care through food. Together, Jim and Bonnie enjoyed life’s simple pleasures - from camping trips in their motorhome and making special memories outdoors with family, to listening to classic country music and becoming die-hard Toronto Blue Jays fans, sharing in every game together. Bonnie’s faith was a central pillar of her life. A woman who loved Christ dearly, she was a devoted member of Crossroads Life Church in Harriston, putting her faith into action by sewing items for others and giving generously. Guided by her caring heart, she dedicated time every Christmas to packing Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes for Samaritan’s Purse, ensuring children in need around the world felt loved. Family was where Bonnie truly let her personality shine. With those she loved, she was quick-witted, wonderfully funny, and full of laughter. She kept her circle close, and for those blessed to be within it, her love was genuine and unwavering. Bonnie leaves behind a legacy of strength, humour, creativity, faith, and unconditional love. Her memory will be forever cherished by her husband Jim, her four children and their families, her seven grandchildren, extended family, and all who were fortunate enough to call her a friend. She will be deeply missed - not only for all that she accomplished, but simply for the extraordinary woman she was. Forever loved. • Forever missed. • Forever in our hearts. Visitation was held at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston, on Monday, September 21st from 6:00 to 8:00pm. A private family funeral service was held at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, followed a celebration of Bonnie’s life from 1:00 until 3:00pm. Memorial donations to Crossroads Life Church, Harriston, Samaritan’s Purse (Operation Christmas Child), or the Palmerston Hospital would be appreciated.
