Donation supports Jobs Opportunities Enterprise

Cheque presentation - The educational initiative Jobs Opportunities Enterprise (JOE), which helps young adults living with developmental challenges learn job skills, received a $4,000 donation from the Retired Teachers of Ontario (RTO). JOE has a partnership with the Planet Bean Coffee chain in Guelph through which young adults with developmental challenges work as baristas with help from supervising JOE volunteers. The $4,000 will go towards providing coffee machines and other equipment needed for a new Planet Bean Coffee opening in Westminister Woods Medical Centre. From left: Liz Scott, Susie Scott and Josephine Scott received the donation on behalf of JOE from RTO provincial chair Martha Foster. The presentation was made during an RTO lunch meeting on Oct. 24 at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex in Fergus.
