Dolly Parton’s 9-5 the Musical coming to Holstein stage

HOLSTEIN – What happens when three dedicated employees decide it is time to make changes in the large international company they work for?

As strict old boys rules are replaced by options of child care, job sharing and bigger thinking the results are hilarious in the Dolly Parton musical 9 to 5.

The Egremont Optimist Centre has been filled with singing and laughter since practices began this January in Holstein.

‘9 to 5’ has a cast of over 20 from the surrounding communities of Southgate, Mount Forest, West Grey, Harriston, Hanover, Walkerton, Owen Sound, Kincardine and Kitchener.

Lara Riehl, Laurie Aitken and Megan Gramigna are cast as Violet, Judy and Doralee, the women who change the face of Consolidated Industries – a typical business of the late 70’s which is being ruled by Franklin Hart, played by Jack Riehl and his “old boys club.”

Kay Garrard plays Roz, Hart’s adoring secretary.

Helen Craigie and Neal Carriere are providing live musical accompaniment.

The Holstein Drama Group kicks off 9 to 5 The Musical May 3 with a dinner theatre at 6pm, followed by another showing on May 4 at 7:30pm. There is also a matinee perormance at 2pm May 5.

The second week will have evening performances Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 9 – 11 at 7:30pm.

Tickets are available at the Holstein General Store, Meat the Butcher in Mount Forest and Eckhardt’s Shell in Durham.
