Former deputy mayor Judy Dirksen is seeking a seat on Minto Town Council in the Oct. 27 municipal election.

Dirksen, who was deputy mayor from 2008 to 2010, served several terms as a councillor prior to that. She has filed nomination papers to run for a councillor position, joining incumbents Mary Lou Colwell, and David Turton and newcomer Geoff Gunson in the competition for one of five available positions.

Incumbent deputy mayor Terry Fisk is challenging incumbent Mayor George Bridge for the top post, while incumbent councillor Ron Faulkner is running for deputy mayor.

Incumbent Bruce Schieck is seeking the local Upper Grand District School Board trustee position, while  Blaise Liaki is the lone candidate for French Separate Board trustee.
